Shotokan Karate Techniques

There are many varied techniques that the Shotokan practitioner can choose from. In fact, the entire body can be used as a weapon. The technique section is broken up as follows:

Stance

  1. Ready : Hachi-dachi
  2. Horse : Kiba-dachi
  3. Forward : Zenkutsu-dachi
  4. Back : Kokutsu-dachi
  5. Cat : Nekoashi-dachi

Block

  1. Overhead
  2. Inside
  3. Outside
  4. Downward

Strike

  1. Forward Punch
  2. Reverse Punch
  3. Back Fist
  4. Bottom Fist
  5. Spear Hand

Kick

  1. Snap Kick
  2. Side Snap Kick (or just Side Kick)
